Automatic 5.0lt: originally purchased as a police security car for the 1981 CHOGM meeting

We love a good story, and this early Commodore has got a good one!

The VC Commodore was vastly improved over the preceding VB; with revised sprint and damper rates for improved ride quality, visual tweaks keeping it fresh and the introduction of goodies such as cruise control.

Engines ranged from a 1.9lt four-pot to the big 5.0lt V8; sending power to the rear via either a three-speed auto or four-speed manual.

This VC Commodore bears the 5.0lt V8 coupled with the automatic and was reportedly ordered new for use as a police security vehicle for the 1981 Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting – hosted by Malcom Fraser and attended by the Queen.

The car presents in great condition today as it was previously fully stripped and resprayed in its original colour. The original motor and carburettor are still fitted and both too have been fully rebuilt.

The interior trim and dash is all original and presents well with no significant noticeable wear or tear.

The car has 185324kms on the odo and the seller claims that all details regarding the car can be 100% verified.

It’s a super neat early V8 Commodore with a unique story to tell.

The car is based in Victoria and is listed for $30,000.
