What's a Holden Commodore worth?
Uncle Cliff walks us through some real world numbers on the value of an Australian-built rear-drive Commodore.
Value guide: Holden Commodore
We’ve seen the stories and the photos – the next-gen fully-imported Commodore with be front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive only. And there won’t be any manuals.
Which means you traditionalists out there might be looking a whole lot harder at what’s on offer in the Aussie-built rear-wheel-drive cars. Here’s a real world price guide to what’s actually happening out there – drawn from actual sales and not just some numbers someone made up. Enjoy…
Understanding the charts

Star Car – Holden Commodore VB-VH SL/E 5.0
GMH TOOK a big punt with the Commodore as it was a downsized car compared with the familiar Holdens.
A number of factors ultimately ensured success. One was that Commodores handled so much better than a humble Holden had a right to. And then they finished one, two and three in the 1979 Repco Round Australia Trial with Peter ‘Perfect’ Brock behind the wheel of the winning car. Say no more. Instant Aussie hero-car.
Oh, and five litres of Oz V8 power and some SL/E creature comforts are very easy to enjoy.
