BMW 730i - today's tempter
Luxury manual
Not happy with Mercedes-Benz hogging the limelight ferrying dignitaries, politicians and celebrities around, BMW decided to join in with its own limo and in 1977 the first BMW 7 Series, the E23, made its debut.
The long wheelbase, opulent E23 was produced from 1977 to 1986. The Seven series was powered by BMWs potent, Bosch L-Jetronic electronic fuelled three-litre 147kW/272Nm straight-six in 1978. Oddly for a top of the range luxo brand flagship, you could have it with either an auto or manual gearbox. Guess not all were chauffer driven.
Pictured is is an early example of the 730i in its new E23 body. Finished in green with contrasting velour trim, according to the ad it's in untouched condition. This one with an asking price of $29,000 sports the manual gearbox and is showing 157,000kms on the clock.
