Brock-owned HDT VH on the market

Famous Group 3 up for auction this Thursday

An HDT VH SS Group 3, owned by Peter Brock and used extensively as a promo/test car is coming up for auction at Grays on Thursday.

This follows on from the auction of another Brock car, a VK Blue Meanie, which soared to over a million dollars. That was about four times the top price previously paid for a 'regular' HDT VK Group A.

The VH is one of 322 made and is said to have been in storage for much of its life.

Aside from the famous ownership, its main claim to fame was an appearance on the January 1983 cover of Modern Motor magazine, where it featured beside a then current 05 touring car racer. Both were put through their paces at the Lang Lang proving ground in Victoria.

Brock and long-time Holden/HDT identity John Harvey did the driving honours.

With around 125,000km on the odo, the car is unrestored and said to be in very good shape.

There is a lot of paperwork packaged up with the car, including a hand-written letter from Brock authenticating his use/ownership and mentioning it had about 60 horses more than a regular Group 3.

Given the current mood of the market, it will be fascinating to see where the bidding ends up.
