It seems a few examples of the VN Commodore SS have popped up on the market lately, presumably as sellers realise these cars have gained significantly in value in recent years.

Even at those higher levels, they can still represent solid buying for a collector who wants Aussie V8 muscle without having to fork over a squillion dollars.

As we noted in our 2018 buyer guide: "There’s no doubt Holden’s Commodore VN SS is one of the sleepers in the classic car market. For a while there, the demand was minimal, except among a few diehard fans. However that situation has changed radically over the last few years, with interest increasing – particularly since the cessation of local manufacturing – and with prices creeping up accordingly."

This example in Sydney presents as a close to dead original car, right down to the wheels and would probably make more financial sense than a restoration. 

It's running the stock 5.0lt V8, five-speed manual and limited-slip diff, along with Holden's FE2 sports suspension. Overall condition is said to be very good.

It's with Muscle Car Warehouse and priced at $54,000.
