1966 Batmobile Replica

Sold: A$233,000 RM Sothebys

Holy snapping catfish, Batman sold the company car! What will Gotham City do now? This beaut-looking replica of the original Batmobile was snapped up by one bat fan for a sizeable chunk of bat money. Bat 15 is one of 27 built. Underneath is a 1972 Lincoln chassis and up front a GM 350V8 bolted to an auto gearbox. It also comes with a raft of Bat accessories. Holy cow what a buy.

Here we have the holy grail of muscle cars for many. This 1969 Mustang Boss 429 KK1519 NASCAR model has original matching numbers. KK refers to Kar Kraft, the builders of this and Allan Moffat’s Mustang. It was kept by its original owner until 1981 who only travelled 13,000 miles in it. It was sold in 1981 and after another 30 miles, was put in a shed and now it’s for sale.

Here's another Aussie expat, I mean export, it is the CV8 Monaro, dubbed a Pontiac GTO on Trump Island. For some odd reason the GTO never got the lauding by buyers the Monaro did here. Pity. The fact that it doesn’t rank highly is reflected in the price, as this relatively clean two-owner 2006 example, the last year of production and with just 20,000km on the clock only secured $35k for the vendor. It has come in for some fettling by way of suspension upgrades with Aussie brand Pedders, a new grille and auxiliary gauges.

1957 Buick Special Estate Wagon

RM Sothebys

The humble family wagon oozed loads of style back in the fifties. Two-tone paint, huge glass area, equally huge interior and a big V8 up front with an auto gearbox. This ’57 Buick Wagon is one of 7031 built for 1957 and has undergone a frame-off restoration. It is equipped with power steering and power brakes. The finishing touch is the period correct white wall tyres on wire wheels.

Clark Griswald made the Squire famous as the Wagon Queen Family Truckster in the movie National Lampoons Vacation. And this one looks almost identical to the Griswald mobile on its adventure to Wallyworld.

TOYOTA COROLLA TWIN CAM

R:\Web\WebTeam\Mary\Motoring\UC 439\auction\toyota-corolla.jpg

The Toyota Corolla is a small, reliable mode of transport. It was never on enthusiasts shopping list until the Twin Cam Corolla in hatch and liftback body styles arrived in 1986. This pair changed the Corolla's perception. Power came from a 1.6 litre twin cam engine that loved to rev and emit a raspy exhaust note and it was a fun car to drive .Not many are left but if you stumble across a good one you won’t stop grinning after every drive. Before parting with your coin check the body for rust and damage and also that the timing chain, CV joints and running gear has been maintained. Expect to pay upwards of $8k.
