It’s time for our annual 60-page Aussie Family Car Buyer’s Guide!

It’s time to celebrate the car we grew up in, with Unique Cars’ annual Aussie Family Car Buyer’s Guide special!

Aussie family rigs in their day were little more than consumables. Tasked with ferrying the kids to school, the wage-earners to work, and maybe pulling a caravan on the weekend – these tireless steeds were once little more than part of the landscape of our lives. If they weren’t traded in for something newer – they were probably eventually left at the tip with little to no idea that these humble family cars would once find themselves as collectibles.

Indeed, if someone had told you that these old things would one day be incredibly sought after – you probably would have laughed.

But times have certainly changed.

Gracing the cover of Unique Cars #429 is an incredibly tidy 1981 VH SL Commodore, which once lived life as a police cruiser.

Contrasting the once-humble Commodore is a fantastic pair of XE ESPs – a six and an eight. Owned by brothers Simon & Jason, they grew up with these cars and waited years for the right ones to pop up! In the end, it looks like they did well!

Out back, you’ll find our massive 60-page Aussie Family Buyer’s Guide! Filled to the brim with what’s happening in the market and what to look for when you’re looking to buy!

In this month’s ToyBox, we toss John Bowe the keys to a sweet Austin-Healey 100, and Guido heads to San Francisco to pedal the some shiny new Bentleys!

We feature a very well-travelled 1973 Citroen GS 1220 – bought new by Michael Browning, who took delivery in Paris and spent a year camping throughout Europe in it. When it was brought back to Melbourne it found a new home – but Michael bought it back!

This month’s Reader’s Resto is a special Brock Commodore – but not one you might expect. This 1995 VR Commodore Rally Prototype was the test bed for Holden’s tilt at the 1995 Mobil 1 Trial, and was recently returned to its former glory!
