Astill-built Ford hardtop – today’s tempter
One-off build
If you were heading down the path of creating something special based around a local Falcon, Howard Astill would most likely be the top of your wish list of potential builders.
Over the decades he’s won pretty much everything worth winning in the local street machine scene and continues to create.
This example is a restomod intended to retain its original outer appearance (with the addition of a period Golde sunroof) while running a much upgraded driveline. Evidently it’s had all the engineering certification done.
The basics include a 393 stroker Cleveland with a ‘manualised’ C4 transmission. While carrying some extensive modifications, the engine bay presents as very close to stock.
Some 2000 hours are said to have been invested in the build, while the car has a fairly well-recorded history. That includes some show wins.
It’s with Australian Muscle Car Sales, priced at $295,000.
