2004 Holden Monaro V2 CV8-R – Today’s Tempter
One of 320 Series III cars built: manual, unmodified, recently serviced, new tyres
Holden’s third-generation Monaro shocked both the press and punters at the 1998 Sydney Motor Show, when the curtains dropped on the handsome concept coupe.
At the time, Holden wasn’t intending to bring the Monaro name back, however the overwhelming feedback must have made its case.
Built from 2001 to 2006; buyers could initially choose between the supercharged 3.8lt CV6 in automatic guise only, or the CV8’s 5.7lt V8 matched to either a six-speed manual or four-speed auto. A 2003 facelift saw the CV6 removed from the line up due to poor sales.
In the first quarter of 2004, the limited-edition Series III CV8-R Monaro was released.
Mirroring the standard CV8, buyers could option either the manual or automatic gearbox behind the 5.7lt V8. 320 were built and all came in painted in Pulse Red; with special 18" five-spoke wheels, silver-finish front and rear lamps, a ‘Holden by Design’ sunroof, unique instrument cluster and leather steering wheel, handbrake and shifter boot.
This CV8-R looks like a well-cared for example, and is currently on the market with 149,440kms travelled since new.
This one is specified with the six-speed manual, and is said to be unmodified with service history and log books.
The Monaro has recently undergone a major service at Holden Melville, and wears a full set of new Bridgestone Potenza tyres.
The CV8-R is based in Western Australia and is listed for $39,888.
