London coachbuilders plan to produce retro Ferrari Breadvan

London-based design house, Niels van Roij Design, have recently announced their latest endeavour, a modern recreation of the unique Ferrari 250 GTO "Breadvan".
The modern donor car has been selected to be the Ferrari 550 Maranello.

Niels van Roij said: "the choice to go for this icon of the 90s was logical… The 550 is the first Ferrari in 24 years (since the Daytona) which was built in the same way as the 250 GT at the time".
"A large V12 in front with a manual gearbox… gives us a unique opportunity to base our interpretation of the legendary Breadvan on a car with a corresponding DNA".
They firm has committed to staying true to preserving "the gentleman racer look of the Maranello" whilst also incorporating "the strong graphic characteristics of the Breadvan into the design".
"Only the windshield remains original and even the headlights are changed" on their envisioned 90s retro racer.
Thus far, the donor 550 Maranello has already had sawblades laid upon it, with clay sculpting already underway.
Whilst an ambitious project, the team at Niels van Roij Design are no strangers to hand-making shooting brake style vehicles, with their Tesla Model S Shooting Brake having been unveiled last year.
They will post updates on the Breadvan Hommage every Friday on their social media channels (Facebook and Instagram) so you can follow along on the project, as well as providing a unique look inside the world of automotive design and coachbuilding.
