Bathurst National Motoring Museum celebrates 50 years of race-winning Holdens

2018 marks 50 years since Holden’s first win at the 1968 Bathurst 1000

To commemorate 50 years since the Roaring Lion’s first win at the 1968 Bathurst 1000, the Bathurst National Motoring Racing Museum (who we visited recently on the Kingswood Country Tour) is putting a collection of race-winning Holdens on display.

The collection will be open to public viewing until December 2018, meaning that while the Great Race has now passed for another year, punters can still get their fix of Bathurst history this Spring.

Rounding out the collection, and bolstering their existing display cars, the exhibition has been loaned a number of vehicles for use in the Holden themed display, and provided a poignant counterpart to their prior exhibition of victorious Ford Falcons which bowed out of the Great Race this year.

The museum was already in possession of a replica of that first year 1968 HK Monaro GTS327 winner, the winning 1976 LH Torana L34, Brock’s 1984 VK Commodore and the 1995 Catrol Perkins car – they then called in Bowden’s 1979 A9X, the 2003 Lap of the Gods car, and the 2009 HRT VE Commodore.

Outside of the special Holden exhibition, the museum displays 110 cars and bikes, seven days a week from 9am to 4:30pm. Tickets are available online at www.nmrm.com.au/visit/admission
