1984 Holden WB Statesman De Ville – Today’s Tempter

Waft along in luxury with this original WB Statesman

The WB Statesman was an all-Australian luxo barge, and was the Roaring Lion’s weapon of choice in the full-size premium market, against Ford’s Fairlane and LTD.

Underpinned by the HZ, the WB was a gained a subtle fresh redesign but further development was stunted by cost minimisation.

Stand back and squint a little, one might initially mistake it for a Rolls-Royce.

This 1984 WB Statesman De Ville harks back to that idealistic time, and looks like a nice survivor.

Under the bonnet sits a 308 V8 mated to a turbo 400 three-speed auto.

The seller claims it to be an original car, and it looks like a bit of a peach!

White duco presents well in photos, and the blue interior is fair – if a little sun faded.

Overall, it looks tremendously neat with the odo posted at 198,775kms.

The seller points out that recent suspension work was carried out on the car, along with the fitment of new tyres.

Full-size Aussie luxury cars are a thing of the past unfortunately, and are starting to hit their stride in the collector market.

This original WB Stato looks like a keen buy if its actual condition reflects the listing.

We hope this icon of a bygone era goes to a good home – and if you reckon that’s you?

The car is listed for $22,000 and is based in Tassie.
