Big local cruiser

Holden's HJ Monaro series was very much a transition model, with a significant change to the front styling and the dropping of the 350 engine option.

This left the 308ci (5.0lt) V8 as the premium powerplant, which claimed 240-250hp (179-186kW).

At this stage you could still get the coupe version and if you happen to own an HJ LS, congratulations, that's a rare car. Only 337 are said to have been built.

Meanwhile the GTS sedan carried on with some familiar styling cues, such as the sports dash and wheels, while front and rear spoilers could be added as accessory to aid the more aggressive look.

This example claims a relatively recent resto - approximately two years and 10,000km ago and is running the 308 with a Turbo 400 auto.

Set up right, these things should be a trouble-free and very comfortable cruiser.

Located in Queensland, this example is priced at $55,000.
