2021 Market Review - Ford Mustang Mach 1/Cobra-Jet/Boss 302/Shelby 1965-1973

When Ford changed the shape of its 1969 Mustang, an important feature was space under the bonnet for its biggest and most potent engines.

Mach 1 Mustangs came standard with 5.0 litres and most commonly with a 5.8-litre ‘351’ but there were cars with the 7.0-litre Super Cobra Jet V8 and a very few with the immensely powerful Boss 429.

Basic 351 Mach 1s are increasing in value and some have topped $100,000, however it is the Cobra-Jet and Boss 302 cars that really have surged in a demanding market.

Shelby Mustangs aren’t easily found in Australia and pre-1967 cars are very expensive. However, with $250,000 in hand it is possible still to buy a tidy and verified 1968-70 GT350.

Mach 1 1969-70 $91,220 [11]

Mach 1 1971-73 $73,335 [6]

Mach 1 Cobra-Jet $139,350 [4]

Boss 302 $147,935 [8]

Shelby GT350 1965-66 $385,000 [1]

GT350/GT500 1967-70 $266,300 [5]
