Announced in April 1972, the AM V8 is an extensively modified version of the DBS V8 which was announced in September 1969. Externally, the grill was entirely new, no longer sweeping across the complete front but now tailored between the head lamps reminiscent of the earlier six cylinder models such as the DB3S. The engine, was by then the well tried and tested all alloy V8 designed by Tadek Marek that had made it's first appearance in January 1967 at the Racing Car Show in London and raced by Lola in their Type 70 Mk III GT. The AM V8 series III was introduced in London, August 1973. The important mechanical difference was the replacement of the Bosch fuel injection system by four twin-choke down draught Weber carburettors, which produced a notably smother performance at low engine speeds with greater flexibility. To accommodate the carburettors, the bonnet bulge had to be deepened slightly and it was continued as a low bulge, to the trailing edge. Improvements were also made to water, oil andautomatic transmission cooling and a new insulation material was used for the engine bulkhead and under the bonnet. There are detailed improvements inside the car, revised front seats; passenger's door locked, electrically, from driver's side; revised switches and heating controls: fuses below the glove compartment; larger ashtray; fuel tank redesigned to increase luggage space. The Autocar road test (September 6th 1973) of a car with automatic transmission, gave 0 to 60 m.p.h. in 6.2 seconds and a maximum 146 m.p.h. Summary:; The market for Aston Martin V8's is strengthening and this car offers an outstanding opportunity for any buyer. A low mileage validated by comprehensive record of service and maintenance builds real value into what is an appreciating and popular model of Aston Martin. Vehicle History; The original Service Voucher Book for this car notes that it was supplied to its first owner, A Pearson of Kenilworth by The Aston Martin Centre of Sutherland Avenue, Coventry. The delivery dateis noted as 18th April 1975. The next significant date in the history file for the car is a receipt for 11,050 signed by Mr. Pearson, for the sale of the car to its second owner, The Walford Manufacturing Company of Birmingham represented by their Managing Director Peter Clasper. The car remained in Mr. Clasper's stewardship, transferring ownership from his company to his personal name in March 1990, until his recent and sad demise. The Executors of his will asked Byron International to sell the car on their behalf which we did in 2013. Acquired by the current owner following an engineer's report, the car has been fastidiously maintained since with diligent repair to the sills and around the off side chassis leg. The owner has also kept a personal log of mileages and weather conditions for all journeys under his stewardship.

Background:; Following three years of intense development, Aston Martin choose to unveil their new car for the nineties and beyond, at the International Motor Show in England on the 18th of October 1988. Called the Virage it was one of the sensations of the show attracting enormous public and media attention. The engine, based on the well tried and tested all alloy V8 designed by Tadek Marek with its racing pedigree, was heavily revised with entirely new cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder (last used by Aston Martin in 1921-2) for better breathing and to overcome power losses inevitable with the use of catalytic converters. This is so the engine can run on unleaded fuel anywhere; in effect it is a 'worldwide' engine compatible for all markets. Development of the new four valve heads was undertaken by the renowned experts, Callaway Engineering of Connecticut, United States. The chassis was designed in conjunction with the Cranfield Institute of Technology (one of the leaders in aerospacetechnology). It is torsionally stiffer, lighter and less complex that that of its predecessor, the V8. The body, in true Aston Martin tradition is aluminium, hand beaten by skilled craftsmen to a design by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley. 'From the outset we felt that the car should be an evolutionary successor to the DB4, 5, 6 and V8,' said Heffernan. The front spoiler incorporates an aerodynamically shaped undertray, while the rear features a boot lip spoiler, each combining to produce zero lift. Glazing is flush throughout. A Virage Volante was first displayed at the 1990 International Motor Show, with a 2+2 following in 1992. In 1993 the car was further improved when the four speed version of the Torqueflite automatic gearbox was introduced with variable sport or comfort settings. Summary:; Just as with its V8 predecessor, The Virage Volante has consistently been better received in the market place that its saloon variant. This original left hand drive, EU registered car is presented in apopular colour combination and offers a great opportunity for classic Continental touring but with many of the luxuries that we have become accustomed to in modern cars. Straight from the personal collection of a Belgian collector, this is a cracking investment in a modern classic. Vehicle History; This lovely car was first registered in France on 8th June 1993 and was acquired by Madame Fuller on 16th February 1996. However, she did not keep the car for long and it was acquired in the name of Madame Monique Zweegers of Vosselaar, Belgium on 19th December 1997. A bill of sale on file notes the sale value at 600,000 French Francs - the odometer reading was noted at 15,000 km and the interior colour delightfully described as Havane - visions of Cuban cigars offers a more descriptive perspective than Tan!; Whilst Madame Zweegers was the name on the invoice, thereafter, correspondence clearly identifies Mr P Zweegers and specifically in relation to Works Service where the condition of the car precludeda road test but nevertheless, a comprehensive report and estimate were submitted in July of 1998 which tellingly reported on the information unit the odometer was alternating between miles and kilometres - clearly faulty.*; This work was undertaken and then in September 1998, Mr Zweegers was informed that now that the car could be properly road tested, other items needed attention - and another estimate was submitted. Later in 2003 the car, now with a recorded 22,000 km recorded was offered for sale on mobil,de and acquired by the current owner to join his static collection in Belgium.

Originally supplied to Hexagon of Highgate London and according to the V5, there have been 5 further keepers. The vehicle has travelled a total of 66000 miles from new in its 45 years. This we believe to be correct and there are several previous Mot certificates supporting the mileage. The vehicle is MoTd until Jan 2019 without advisories however a new one will be provided when purchased. The car, in our opinion, is in excellent condition throughout. It is the more powerful model with the 5340cc V8 Aston Martin Lagonda engine with the 4 twin choked carburettors. The valuable registration number UUC 7M is included in the sale and is transferable. This vehicle is also road tax exempt. In addition, there is an Aston Martin extended warranty some 18 pages long stating that this warranty is transferable. However, the validity of said document should be checked out. This is an iconic model of Aston Martin synonymous with James Bond. This model was also used in the TV series The Persuaders, featuring Roger Moore. The values of Aston Martin DB5s and DB6s are reaching astronomical levels and we feel that the V8 version represents particularly good value in a rising market.01202 709407 OR 07785500990
