It was in 1922 that Archibald Frazer Nash left GN. the company he had co-founded with Henry Godfrey. and established his own eponymous venture in Kingston-upon-Thames. The initial chain drive examples were a logical development of the GN models. However. within five years. the business was in trouble and went into receivership. re-emerging as AFN Ltd. By 1929. H. J. Aldington had become its major shareholder and was running the company with his brothers Donald and William. During 1934 it became the UK importer and assembler of the BMW marque, the results of which were sold as Frazer Nash-BMWs. Following WWII. the company created a number of new models including the High Speed. Mille Miglia. Targa Florio. Le Mans Coupé and the Sebring. all of which were in essence evolutions of the BMW 328. As its name suggests. the High Speed was a no-nonsense lightweight competition version that featured minimal bodywork and cycle wings. It was powered by the 1971cc straight-six BMW unit that had been developed by Bristol under licence from AFN. This was mated to a Bristol four-speed manual gearbox. Suspension was independent at the front by transverse leaf spring and by live axle and torsion bars at the rear. With some 125bhp powering a two-seater of just 635kg. the performance was predictably impressive. and the High Speed was capable of achieving the 0-60mph sprint in around 8. 8 seconds and powering on to a terminal speed of some 110mph. It was a High Speed that AFN entered for the first post-WWII Le Mans 24 Hours race held in 1949. The result was memorable with H. J. Aldington and co-driver Norman Culpan finishing a magnificent third overall. This prompted the company to rebrand the High Speed as a Le Mans Replica - thereby resurrecting a type of nomenclature from its past. The model was immortalised at the hands of such racing legends as Stirling Moss. Roy Salvadori. Tony Brooks and Tony Crook of Bristol Cars fame. And. bearing in mind a total of just 34 examples of the High Speed/Le Mans Replica were built before production ceased in 1953. these cars are now highly prized by collectors. Moreover. with demand falling some way short of supply. a market for quality evocations of the Le Mans Replica has understandably evolved over the years. A small batch was constructed by the renowned restorers Crosthwaite & Gardiner. A further series of some 11 cars were also built in 1990 by Werner Oswald. reputedly based on a Mk. I Le Mans Replica owned at the time by well-known collector and historic racer. Frank Sytner. Never offered in fully assembled form. they were sold as kits leading to them being known as 'WOK's - i. e. Werner Oswald Kits. During the production phase it was discovered that the name Frazer Nash Cars had remained dormant for a number of years and so was duly purchased by the company in order to legitimately allow its products to be advertised as `made by Frazer Nash Cars`. The Le Mans Replica we are selling today is 'WOK1'; Oswald`s personal prototype. manufactured in 1988 and employing parts. as required. from a Bristol 405. Once finished with by its constructors. it was apparently purchased by Peter Mann and then subsequently owned in turn by Bob Beck and Robert Brock of Buxton. Sporting black coachwork and black interior trim. `625 PP0` has been treated to a considerable amount of remedial work in the last years courtesy of Spencer Lane Jones. This has included a gearbox overhaul and the fitting of high-ratio gears. the refurbishment of the cylinder head. oil pressure relief valve. trio of downdraught Solex carburettors. clutch (new centre plate). brakes. steering column and rear suspension. Commenting on the condition of the Frazer Nash, Spencer Lane Jones said: "When we last test drove the car in February 2011. it was an extremely good example of such a model and the owner was very good at constantly improving it. " This well-presented and extremely competitive example is being sold with FIA Appendix K papers as well as an HTP passport that make it eligible for most of the world's high-profile historic racing events. UK road registered and with a comprehensive history. This represents extremely interesting access to Goodwood & other historic events. 1928 Rolls Royce 20hp Tourer. Chassis number GUJ15 Registration number 897EFD A delightful little tourer under previous continuous ownership or several decades. During that time much money has been spent to keep the car in tip top order as evidenced by copious bills in the service folder from the usual suspects. A new aluminium head has also been fitted along with a brake over-haul, engine rebuild etc etc etc. Originally bodied by H.J. Mulliner, the car in the '30's went through the hands of Southern coachbuilders who fitted the car with more up to date vertical slats & also modified the body. The engine runs sweetly & silently as may be expected from the bills. The gear box is a delight & the whole car taut & pleasant to drive. The car is in lovely condition & is used regularly for touring, having sojourned as far a field as southern Spain under previous ownership. Painted in a jaunty yellow & black the car attracts attention of the right kind wherever it appears & brings smiles to faces of the bystanders. The roof is of black material & easily erected. A full set of side screens also comes with the car for inclement motoring conditions. A large Klaxon lurks under the bonnet. An Auster style screen folds out in the rear to offer a modicum of protection to rear occupants & gives the car a very period look. A single spare is side-mounted to the passengers side. To the rear is a motoring trunk & also a wicker picnic basket, in this instance waiting to be filled with the necessary requisites by the new owner. Front & rear seats are black leather augmented by black carpets covered in RR floor mats. All in all a delightful car in impeccable running condition & needing nothing. The car has overdrive fitted making it a good long legged cruiser running well at modern traffic speeds.

1949 Delahaye 135M 2 Door Saloon Chassis number: 801428 Registration number: 467UYG Vintage and Prestige Fine Motor Cars are proud to be offering this 1949 Delahaye 135M 2 door saloon for sale. A rare two door coupé by noted French Parisian Coachbuilder Guillore. Significantly, this Delahaye 135M is matching numbers and has the famed Cotal semi-automatic gearbox, finished in Circassian Blue with grey interior. This Delahaye 135M was delivered new to its first owner in Marseille where it remained for much of its life. It has been well maintained with recent well-documented specialist work by Marque specialist Polson. Recently the Delahaye 135M has had a sympathetic restoration by Premium Classic Cars preserving, where possible details of the original interior. Documented work by Polson has included a new clutch and flywheel in parallel with a full overhaul of the Cotal gearbox. Premium Classic Cars continued with an engine-out detailing, a complete overhaul of the Delahaye 135Ms cooling system, fuel delivery system and all electrics. The suspension (including new bushes) and brakes have been fully rebuilt, with all components stripped to bare metal, prior to repainting. Brake drums have been machined and reassembled with new linings in conjunction with a full overhaul of the master cylinder. All four wire wheels have been stripped to bare metal and correctly repainted too. The interior of the Delahaye 135M has been partly re-trimmed meaning the Delahaye 135M presents itself in a fabulous condition. Many hours of work have helped to preserve the carpets condition and a sympathetic restoration of instruments leaving this 135 M as perhaps, one of the finest examples left in running order today. There is no doubt regarding the performance heritage of this Delahaye 135M, which in its day was successful at both Le Mans and also the Monte Carlo Rally. The M was the more powerful version of the 135 and the car that provided the main stay of the Delahayes production up until 1954. This Delahaye 135M, with customized bodywork by Guillore in coupe form was one of the quicker cars in the UK in 1950. Of course along with its super performance, it also carries the Cotal gearbox which injects real pace to a journey and brings wonderful enjoyment to this uniquely satisfying drivers car. The blue paint is in good order. New Grey leather is fitted to the seating surfaces. The boot is a commodious affair well suited to ample quantities of touring luggage. ..
