1975 MG B GT V8 SN:4026 VIN:GD2D12393G ENG:11A30081 $55,000 (To be sold Unregistered & with Vic RWC) TAHITI BLUE GT V8 After Ken Costelo's small scale production of V8 Converted MG B's in 1970, the market would have to wait 3 Years until they could get their hands on a Factory Built Rover V8 Powered MG B GT. Until September of 1973 Production consisted of Chrome Bumpered GT V8's numbering 1856 units including just 7 LHD with another 735 Rubber Bumper examples following until July 1976 when production ceased. This 1975 MG B GT V8 was built 24 March to 1 May 1975 and despatched on 8 May 1975 to Henlys Ltd. Of Manchester. It was imported from the UK after getting Import Approval on 7 December 2010. It was then granted Engineering Approval on 20 January 2011 before being registered in NSW. It presents as a Very Tidy Example finished in Tahiti Blue and sits nicely on a set of Minator Alloy Wheels with Charcoal Coloured Centres and Polished Rims.. The Contrasting Black Interior is in Great Condition as is the Walnut Veneer Instrument Panel, Console and Door Cappings. For those who enjoy In-Car Entertainment, there is a Blaupunkt 4 Speaker Stereo System. The GT also features a Webasto type Sunroof Allowing you to Enjoy the Sunshine. Background: I purchased the car in stock condition in 2010. Original Verdoro Green, black vinyl top, AC, standard black interior. As far as I know it came to Michigan sometime in the early 90s from Georgia. I have some paperwork from the last two owners with that time frame. The body of the car is the most solid I have ever seen on a 1st gen F-body. Trunk, quarters, floors, doors, etc. all appear to be original with no signs of rust repair. The rear quarter drop downs have all their original plastic plugs even. Floor pans are clean and have original factory green paint overspray. Interior: Interior was almost entirely gone through and updated. I covered the floor pans and doors with dynamat sound deadener. Headliner was in great condition, but I installed a new dome light with LED conversion. Recovered the package tray and installed new 6x9 speakers. Put down new carpet and matching Firebird logo floor mats, pedal pads and stainless pad trim. New gauge cluster housing and lense, HVAC control lense and all dash and center stack lights converted to LEDs. Tuner knobs and bezels all replaced too. RetroSound radio installed in factory position. New 3.5 dash speakers and sub box with Rockford Fosgate 10 subs and amp. Console was completely taken apart and repainted. New heavy duty shifter cable. Changed all the fake woodgrain over to black. All new shifter handle, display lense, backing plate, etc. New front seat covers, foam, side arm covers and chrome adjuster knobs. New rear seats covers and underlayment. The door panels were all still in nice shape so they just got a thoroughcleaning. All the chrome and aluminum bits throughout the car were all polished. And the final piece is a new Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel plus adaptor. Suspension/Brakes/Wheels: The entire front clip was removed. All the suspension components and subframe itself were powercoated satin black. Subframe and core support changed to solid aluminum mounts. All new urethane bushings in the suspension pieces. All new brake and fuel kit front to rear. New 1.25 solid front sway bar + poly end links. New KYB shocks front and rear. New 2 dropped rear leaf springs. Front springs are the originals. New Wilwood slotted/drilled front disc brake conversion kit, master, booster, prop valve, braided stainless lines and new calipers. The rear brakes are all new replacement parts (shoes, wheel cylinders, etc.) on the factory drums. Installed new 18/20 Coys C5 wheels and tires. New AGR fast ratio steering box and pump. All the front ball joints and tie rods are new. Tie rods have solid billet adjusters. Rear end is 10 bolt open with 3.73 gear. Housing was cleaned and painted. Body/Exterior: Everything in the engine compartment is painted and/or powdercoated. Any visible fasteners are stainless. All new wiring harnesses in the engine compartment and trunk. New fuel tank, mounting hardware and sending unit. New front and rear bumpers and hardware. Brackets were powdercoated. All new exterior emblems. New front spoiler and brace kit, license plate bracket. New satin finish wiper blades, antenna, both door handles, drivers side door mirror and wheel opening moldings. The factory window trim was polished. Window fuzzies and rubber bumpers are new. Grilles were disassembled, sanded and painted a charcoal color. Has the Firebird 400 bumper nose emblem and grille moldings. New front marker/turn signal housings/lenses. New rear marker arrowhead lenses and surrounds. All the brake, stop, turn, marker and reverse lights have been changed over to LEDs. I converted to a no-load flasher so the signals work correctly. The headlights are new to comply with Australian Standards. Newhood tach. All the glass is in good condition. The side windows are 68 originals with etched Firebird on them. I wet sanded and buffed the entire car, then glazed the paint with a foam wheel so no spider webs or swirling. The hood has a few light hail dents that are visible if you look at the right angle. I didnt notice them until I started to wet sand. I had custom matched touch-up paint mixed to take care of some small chips and scratches. There is an odd crack in the paint on the hood and truck lid not sure what caused them. Two very small bubbles (1/8 diameter) are forming one on the front bottom of the right door and the other behind the left rear wheel opening molding. Overall Id say about 7 of 10 on the paint condition to understate it and not disappoint anyone. The car had a door edge guard protector that was riveted all the down the body line of the car. I removed the molding, filled the holes with drip rail seam sealer and put a new H.O. stripe over the holes.. Engine/Trans/Exhaust: The car is intended to be a cruiser so the drivetrain build is mild. Engine was completely rebuilt with all new pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump, etc. The rear main was converted to lip seal vs. factory rope style. Heads and block decked to 9.7:1 CR. I hand ported the factory heads to give them a little more airflow. New roller rockers. Mild 218/224 @ 0.050 lift duration cam so it has a hint of lope. New sheetmetal fabricated rocker covers which have a tumbled and clear coated finish. New Edelbrock Performer Intake, 750cfm Holley Carb w/electric choke, high flow aluminum carb spacer, billet base HEI distributor, MSD wires, 3 element air cleaner with real carbon fiber lid and aluminum drop base. New aluminum water pump and flow plates adjusted so they are very close to the impeller. New Classic Auto Air AC conversion kit to replace all the old stuff. Everything on the engine is painted a charcoal high temp color or has been powdercoated. All external fasteners are stainless.New aluminum radiator and electric fan conversion with thermostat controlled on/off. New battery cables, Hooker 4-tube headers, complete 2.5 mandrel bent Flowmaster exhaust. Transmission was swapped to a B.O.P. TH350. Completely rebuilt with shift improver kit installed. New cooler lines. Trans was painted the same color as the engine. All external fasteners are stainless. Original driveshaft with new u-joints. Has less than 3000 miles since completed. Have just spent an additional 8K on the car getting it through engineering and is now registered Western Australia.
