Tamas Craske's 1969 Toyota Crown ute

I know a couple of guys with Crown wagons so when I came across a Gumtree ad for this ute, I just knew I needed it.

It’s been an SA car all its life and had the original books and keyring with it. When I bought it, the Crown had been off the road since 1994, so naturally I started pouring money into it. I rebuilt the 2M six cylinder motor with 20-thou oversized pistons and stuff like that. I also went over brakes and got a good set of lenses for it, although it does still show a few battle scars.

I also lowered it about two inches in the front and five in the rear, using blocks and flipping the spring hangers. Then I fitted a set of genuine, single-piece Work Equip 03 alloys from Japan. They’re 30 years old and a rare wheel; I’d never seen a set in five-stud before.
