V8 Jaguar

For Jaguar, the release of the XK8/XKR series in 1996 epresented a major generational change in its grand tourer coupes and roadsters. For many, it was the best-looking effort since the demise of the E-type.

At the heart of the machine was a 32-valve DOHC 4.0lt V8 that later grew to 4.2lt.

In a review of the XK8/XKR series, Cliff Chambers notes: "For their money XK8 buyers enjoyed superb new chassis underpinnings and electronics superior to anything previously fitted to a road-going Jag. Inside remained ‘traditional’ in its leather ’n’ timber ambience, with climate-control air-con, power seat adjusters, a trip computer and advanced sound system."

The R of course added a new level to this with its supercharged engine, initially rates at 276kW, matched to an uprated five-speed auto transmission.

This example claims exceptionally low miles at under 32,000km and had a few R options added from new, including the wheels. John Conroy in Brisbane has it for $89,990.
