3. T-shirts
Retailer Best and Less has a range of tees featuring classic Aussie and American muscle cars for just $15. With its stores scattered across this brown land, it won’t be hard to track one down. If you are a fan of the General there is this bright and bold Monaro shirt. If it is Henry’s mob that grabs you. A Mustang shirt is also part of the range. 4. Great Aussie Car Fails book
There are times when we’re probably too nice about our own car industry which, no matter how much we loved it, had its fair share of lemons and bad decisions. Dave Morley – yep the same Morley who does out workshop column – has decided to name names and models, which sometimes makes for hilarious and excruciating reading. Published by Hardie Grant, it costs $25 from automotive bookshops.
5. Dunko book
One of several titles penned by local author, engineer and rally driver Bob Watson, Dunko follows the trials and tribulations of five times local rally champion Ross Dunkerton. It traces his colourful career which had a strong international flavour to it and the development of rallying along the way. Lots of anecdotes and photos and well worth reading. About $45 via auto bookshops or bobwatsonrally.com.au
6. E-Type tools
Jaguar Classic has reproduced the original E-type toolkit. Available as a new item for the first time in almost 50 years, thanks to Jaguar Classic’s access to historic records that ensure authenticity. Presented in a leatherette/canvas tool roll, it features maintenance tools including a valve timing gauge and grease gun.
