Our bargain picks

Shannons’ Melbourne Spring Classic Auction is almost here and there is a simply awesome array of vintage and classic enthusiast cars up for grabs.

Some of the vehicles will demand very healthy price tags, but there’s still plenty on offer that won’t break the bank.

Here are our top four picks for under $10,000:

1992 BMW 740iL

1992 BMW 740iLThis would be a great interstate cruiser for not much cash. According to Shannons, the 740il has a full service history from new and has only ever had two owners. What’s more, Shannons say the Germanic limo presents well throughout and drives superbly. Shannons have put an estimate of $7000-$10,000 on the BMW.

1989 Mercedes-Benz 300CE

1989 Mercedes-Benz 300CEA great entry point into the Luxury German coupe segment, this Mercedes-Benz is a three-owner, Australian delivered vehicle from new with accompanying books and service history. Shannons say the vehicle was optioned well and, as a result, has a great host of features such as electric leather seats, seatbelt extenders and a factory sunroof. The Merc’ has a price estimate of $8000-$10,000.

1939 Renault Java 4

1939 Renault Java 4Now here’s something a bit out of left field, a pre-war ’39 Renault Java, or Juvaquatre. According to Shannons, the vehicle has been owned for the past six years by an avid enthusiast of eclectic cars and the vehicle has recently undergone some interior refurbishment. Coloured in French Blue, this car would be a great way to get into something truly unique from the pre-war era. Shannons reckon the Java is good for $6000-$9000.

1986 Porsche 944

1986 Porsche 944Last but certainly not least and probably our pick of the bunch is this Australian delivered ’86 944. Shannons say this Porsche has come from an enthusiast and Porsche club member and is well-appointed with burgundy leather upholstery and a factory sunroof. Shannons adds that the vehicle has been well maintained over the years and comes with service books and workshop manual. This out-and-out sports car has no reserve and Shannons believe it will sell for $6000-$10,000.
