Mercedes-Benz W194 recreation – preview
Incredibly rare Benz racer built from blueprints
Imagine you own a car restoration business and you have a well-heeled client roll up and demand the impossible – he wants one of the ultra-rare Mercedes-Benz W194 racers, the model that dominated the world sports car race scene in the early fifties.
There are only a handful left, the Benz factory owns them and there is no way they’re selling.
What do you do? If you’re Wolf Grodd from Sleeping Beauties in Brisbane, you get hold of the blueprints (best not to ask how…) and build one from scratch.
Four years and a million bucks later, the car is rolled into its first public showing in San Francisco.
It’s an incredible story and we’ve just got hold of the photo files from the restoration, and interviewed Grodd. Look for the full story and video in the very near future.
