HT Monaro scores $225,000 bid at Shannons
Strong bidding points to healthy local classic market
Tonight's Shannons Spring Sydney auction proved there is plenty of interest in classic cars, regardless of country of origin. It was a good-humoured event, with talented auctioneering and strong results.
Some highlights:
The glamour lot - the survivor HT GTS Monaro - scored $225,000;
An LJ GTR XU-1 pulled $86,000;
A Fiat Multipla scored $62,000;
And a Jaguar E-type attracted aggressive bidding which saw it reach $155,000.
All but one lot sold. That was a Shelby Mustang, where bidding reached $160,000.

11 Lotus Esprit - $55,000
12 VW Kombi with various upgrades - $47,000
13 Porsche 911SC Targa - $76,000
14 Maserati Khamsin - $128,000
15 Jaguar E-type series 2 - $155,000
16 Packard Clipper - $16,000
17 Cadillac Fleetwood - $30,000
18 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with aftermarket V8 - $33,000
19 Corvette C3 - $73,000
20 Shelby Mustang - bidding stopped at $160,000
21 Fiat Multipla - $62,000
22 Nissan Skyline GTR R32 - $69,000
23 Holden Torana LJ GTR XU-1 - $86,000
24 Maserati Merak - $84,000
25 HDT VK Group A SS - $106,000
