2021 Market Review - Holden Commodore/SL/E/Calais VB-VL & VL Turbo

Money asked for 1980s Commodores has been strong for some time, but recent value movements, especially by the V8 cars, have been neck snapping.

Turbo-engined VLs that previously led the charge have had their price growth overshadowed by surging demand for V8 Calais models. SL and Berlina versions have done okay as well, especially genuine ex-Police cars or those kitted out to look like one.

VC-VLs of this era offer links to the days of HDT competition glory and that can’t hurt values either. Best buying, even at $60-70,000, will come via a Calais Turbo in as close to stock condition as it can be, or a 5.0-litre SL/E. These in well preserved condition and with four-speed manual transmission have to be worth more than $40,000.

VB-VL V8 $44,660 [14]

VB-VH SL/E V8 $36,140 [7]

VK-VL Calais V8 $79,500 [4]

VL Turbo $49,345 [9]

VL Calais Turbo $61,700 [7]
