![CDATA[The 2.4 saloon of 1955, retrospectively known as the Mk. I, had been a major step for Jaguar, marking the change from a coachbuilt chassis to one of unitary construction. It was a necessary move however, Jaguar being aware there was a strong market for a more compact saloon than the big Mk. IX. Powered by a 2,482cc version of the superb twin cam straight six XK engine, the 2.4 offered luxury, performance and value for money. Using coil spring/wishbone front and semi-elliptic spring rear suspension, it possessed fine road manners and proved a great success, both on and off the track, particularly when it became available with the 3.4 litre engine in February 1957. It was in October 1959 that the Mk. II version appeared, making a good car even better. Similar in appearance but with a much larger glass area, it boasted a wider rear track to improve road holding together with minor front suspension changes to reduce body roll and all round disc rather than drum brakes. Engine options includedthe 120bhp 2.4 litre, the 210bhp 3.4 litre and, for the first time the 220bhp 3,781cc unit of the Mk. IX. Considered by many in Jaguar circles to be the best combination for the iconic Mk. II Jaguar, this example is offered in opalescent metallic blue and is a matching numbers 3.4 litre manual with overdrive motorcar. This example is in splendid condition throughout and was originally supplied to Jaguar Export in South Africa in November of 1965, this can be identified by the Dating Certificate found within the history file. Upon inspection, the car starts on the button with a fabulous note produced from the exhaust and engine. During our appraisal we were given the opportunity to raise the car and we were delighted to see the underneath presents as impressively as the remainder of the car and contained within the boot is the spare wheel. We are informed between 2015-2016 the car was restored which included a new wiring loom and retrim with new chrome to complement the paintwork and optionalWebasto sunroof. This is a great example of an iconic Mk. II with the best combination of the larger and powerful 3.4 engine coupled to the manual gearbox and working overdrive. With an attractive estimate this is a great drivers' car which is sure to be a solid investment.]]

This fabulous driving MKII 3.4 Jaguar was first registered on the 18th of June 1964. BDG 241B was supplied new in Gloucestershire and the car still retains its original green logbook. The MKII is in original colours, Opalescent silver grey with delightfully aged and original blue leather. The MKII spent many years with its first owner before passing through the family where by the 1980's it was undergoing some restoration work. Photographs and documentation relating to this are with the comprehensive history file that accompanies the car. We first sold this MKII in 2010, taking it in as part of a lovely collection that included a very early E-Type Series One FHC, Triumph Stag, MGB and Jaguar MKV. The car had been with its Holmfirth based owner since August 2005 and had covered 12,000 trouble free miles. The MKII had been a truly fabulous car to own and had proven to be totally reliable and dependable. Maintenance to the highest of standards had ensured it remained a top class driving car andinvoices and receipts are present with the history. For many summer weekends this example had been used for family journeys from West Yorkshire to the North East, Lake District and Norfolk. We soon sold the car to one of our regular customers in Gateshead who has regularly toured in the North East of England and the came back to us in 2015 and sold to a customer in Essex who has enjoyed three years of perfect ownership having spent over 3,000 on an EZ power assisted steering kit on intiial purchase. BDG 241B is a particularly nice car to drive and we would expect the recorded mileage of 89000 is likely to be correct. It has a superb ride, a fantastic strong, reliable engine holding very good oil pressure and there are no knocks or rattles evident. The all syncromesh manual gearbox changes up and down smoothly, the overdrive works correctly and the car is quiet, comfortable and effortless to drive. The MKII handles well and brakes are efficient. This MKII retains delightful largely originalupholstery that clearly indicates this has never been a car left to deterioate. The original Blue leather has beautifully aged and has a lovely patina, the headlining and door cards are original and whilst carpets are not original, they were replaced many years ago. The woodwork has been re-veneered and polished and some stage and look superb and the engine bay and boot look smart with a nice feel of originality. Over four years ago the Jaguar was subject of a re-paint that involved removal of windscreens and fitting all new rubbers. The 20 year old paint had faded and the result of the more recent paintwork is a high quality, stunning finish. The bodywork is in excellent order with superb, straight panels, doors close correctly and the underside is excellent with no corrosion issues. The underside is remarkably original and has been well maintained and regularly waxoyled. The generally original shell is remarkable and finding such an honest, largely original MKII would be difficult. Price: 46,995

This Jaguar Mark 2 3.8 was despatched when new to Australia in May 1960 where it was kept until the end of 2017. The Jaguar Heritage Certificate accompanying this superb example confirms that it retains its original interior and exterior colours of Mist Grey and Red. In 1995 it was fitted with a full synchromesh manual and overdrive gearbox. We are advised that the car has been sparingly used and for all intents and purposes in store until its preparation for repatriation to these shores. Works carried out prior to re-import included: full refurbishment of the fuel system, including carburettors, renewal of the brakes and some re-chroming at a documented cost of Australian $14,000 (8,500). The Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon in line with Sir William Lyons' 1950s advertising slogan: Grace . . . Space . . . Pace. The 3,781 cc Jaguar XK engine is similar to the unit used in the 3.8 E-Type Jaguar having the same block, crank, connecting rods and pistons but different inlet manifold andcarburettors. The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were both fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors. The 3.8 litre with the 220 bhp engine was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 8.5 seconds and could reach a top speed of 125 mph, which was in its day most impressive, hence its status as the Bank Robbers favourite get-away car. It followed that the Police acquired the Mark 2 3.8 to give chase and patrol our motorways as the 70 mph speed limit only arrived in 1965. Our example pulls well with good oil pressure, no knocking noises or squeaks. In our opinion Mist Grey with Red is one of the very best colour combinations this excellent example also has the benefit of a new interior and chrome wire wheels; it is a thing of beauty. Manufactured in 1962 this Jaguar MK 2 3.4 Litre is, we understand, an original Right Hand Drive car equipped with a Moss Overdrive gearbox. We further believe this to be a matching numbers car and we are awaiting the Jaguar Heritage Certificate to confirm these details. Adhering to Sir William Lyons' maxim of ''Grace, Pace and Space'', the Jaguar Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon which was powered by the XK Twin Overhead Camshaft inline 6-cylinder engine that was introduced by Jaguar in 1949 and remained in production until 1992. In 3.4 Litre form the engine produced a claimed 210 bhp The 3.4 Litre and 3.8 Litre cars were fitted with twin SU HD6 carburettors. Inherited by a lady upon the passing of her father in 2000 this car, we are advised, was largely unused until the second half of 2015 when it was consigned to Brian Stevens of XK Motorsport who having determined that the Engine and Drive Train were in good order carried out the following works: Braking System Overhaul, 123 ElectronicIgnition System, Hydraulic Pump Electric Power-steering fitted, Stainless Steel Exhaust System, Alternator and Negative earth System, Choke converted to manual operation plus the useful edition of Power outlet and USB Connection under the dashboard. Upon completion of these electromechanical works a full re-trim in Beige leather plus carpets was carried out and the whole car was re-sprayed in the historic colour of Ecurie Ecosse Blue. Acquired by the current keeper in January 2016 who has made further improvements that include: Coombs Style rear wheel arches, Wood Rim Steering Wheel, Halogen Headlights, LED bulbs to interior and exterior lights. Subsequently the Speedometer was reconditioned by Speedograph. New rear Shock Absorbers have recently been fitted. The original steering wheel, steering rack, distributor and rear arch spats are with the car. The last keeper purchased the car showing 79,800 miles and the mileometer is now showing 83,900 miles; whilst the known history would suggest themileage is correct it cannot be warranted. This car is in really excellent condition with a very tidy underside and it is far and away the nicest driving Mark 2 we have had in stock for a very long time. Moreover, it looks stunning and draws almost as many admiring glances an E-Type costing three times as much; plus that admiration can be enjoyed by five people not just two. This car is also available for hire and weddings etc. Please enquire for details.
