*** New Price *** A truly spectacular example of these wonderfully elegant 'slope back' Bentley Continental's - and most unusually this one sports a pair of rear wheel Spats too The history folder is quite excellent, with original correspondence from the very earliest portion of BC41BG's life Originally supplied through Mayfair and World renowned dealership Jack Barclay there are within the folder many service records, internal memorandums and also the original sales contract - its all really quite charming to behold The first owner exchanged his 'D' series 'R' Type Continental plus a wad of money for this, the then latest and most up to date Continental available at the time - how times change and now his original car is worth twice the value of this, the replacement I wonder which is really the better car - the S1 Fastback is certainly far rarer than the 'R' Type Continental JB's supplied her to the first 3 owners, it would seem from the papers and serviced her throughout - by 1960 over 52.000 miles had been covered It's funny how many visitors ask us here in the Mews whether these old cars can cope with regular use - when you look at the number of vehicles which have covered over 17.000 per annum, like this did in the first 3 years, it really makes one wonder what they thought these cars, or their owners, did all those years ago? The last two custodians of BC41BG are very well known to us here in Kensington, the former carrying out a full suspension overhaul as well as a complete engine rebuild at his local specialists near to his home in Colchester (5.000 miles only since these works were completed) and the most recent engaged us to strip her to bare metal, repaint her beautifully (making the new rear wheel Spats at this time) and also to completely re-trim the interior and boot compartments She presents, almost to perfection, whilst on the road she performs with quite astonishing aplomb - the freshly rebuilt engine is delightfully quiet and smooth, matching perfectly the seemless gearbox operation The interior is, to quote the wonderful Noel Coward, "quite devine" and a most comfortable place in which to travel; again it has to be acknowledged that the S1 Continental does take a lot of beating All in all this is one of the very nicest, if not possibly the very nicest, Fastback S1 we have come across and for the next custodian, we can confirm she gathers rather a lot of attention, from all the right people and in just the right way too

1947 Bentley Mark VI Windovers DHC. Chassis Number: B-108-AK Registartion number: JFO394 Chassis number B108AK was completed in August of 1947 to the order of Sir Alexander Rogers KBE. The Bentley was bodied as a drophead coupe by the respected coachbuilding firm of Windovers. Founded in 1856 in Huntingdon but from 1924 based in North West London, Windovers diversified into the manufacture of motor bodies in the early 1900s, concentrating on quality marques chiefly Daimler and Rolls-Royce at first before adding the likes of Alvis, Armstrong-Siddeley, Lagonda, Lanchester, Mercedes-Benz, and Bentley to its portfolio in the 1930s. The coachwork is believed to be unique, with a disappearing hood design, concealed when lowered by a panel of folding coachwork, which is secured with a coach key. It is understood that this particular body - number '6645' to Design '101' - is one of the last, if not the very last, built by Windovers. B108AK changed hands in 1950 when purchased by Brook Tool Ltd of Birmingham, and then again in 1952 when purchased by R and W H Symington Ltd of Market Harborough. It was acquired in 1958 by Mr R V Fontes of Knutsford in Cheshire, and at some time in the mid/late 1980s was sold by David Baldock, as a restoration project, to Merrick Edwardes. B108AK had been in Canada for many years, was complete in every respect but needed a full restoration. Merrick Edwardes intended to restore the Bentley for his own use, but after a great deal of persuasion sold the car to Peter Channing and restored it for him during the early 1990s. The bills associated with the restoration are eye watering to say the least. This thorough restoration included a new ash frame, coachwork restoration, brightwork restoration and re-plating, a new hood and interior, and also extensive mechanical works. Mr Channing also wanted to upgrade the car with a 4½-litre Bentley R-Type engine and automatic transmission (the original engine had a cracked block and was unserviceable). A donor R-Type was purchased (chassis number 'B236WH') and the engine, gearbox, and steering column were removed, overhauled and fitted to 'B108AK' as per Mr Channing's instructions. At the same time the engine was modified for increased power and torque to this end Oselli Engineering gas flowed the cylinder head and an R-Type Continental exhaust was fitted. Following the completion of the works, the car was carefully maintained and serviced to a very high standard. Recently a new dark green Mohair hood was fitted & the spectacular burr walnut woodwork refurbished to show standard. The car was also mechanically reviewed and prepared by Marque spcialists Frank Dale & Stepsons of West London. It is in close to concours condition & will do well anywhere it is shown. The boot lid has had modern Gas Struts fitted to ease in opening & closing it. Presented in Brewster Green in show winning condition, this rare coachbuilt Bentley MkVI drophead comes with a complete selection of original small and large tools, and an extensive history file documenting the works carried out over the past 20 years. On the road it drives beautifully with notably more performance then a Standard Mark VI & a very long legged gait due to the 12.40 ratio rear axle. You really have to see & drive this car to appreciate how well it reflects the Monniker of "The Silent Sportscar." A gallery of large high-resolution pictures may be viewed on our website. 1954 Bentley R Type Park Ward Convertible Chassis number: B3YA A rare Coachbuilt Park Ward bodied R type. This car has had an extensive mechanical restoration in the last tow years including a full engine rebuild with new pistons & a re-ground crank etc. Likewise the chassis & braking system has been completely gone though & renewed. The radiator has also been recored & the radiator shell re-chromed. Prior to restoration the car resided for many many years in Las Vegas Nevada where the dry desert climate preserved the car extremely well. The car presents beautifully in its original British Racing Green/ Sage Green colour scheme. Since its return it has had a new leather interior fitted along with new carpets. All woodwork has been removed & re-finished to a high standard. Assorted parts have been rechromed as required. The hood is of green Mohair & glides up & down at the touch of a button. The hood lining is of dark green alcantra. Under the bonnet the car is highly detailed to show standards. We expect the car to arrive with us at the end of March after some final chrome work such as the windshield surround has returned from the platers. The car featured prominently in a 1968 Inspector Clouseau film delivering Clouseu to a waiting British United Airways Vickers VC-10. ..
