The AC 2-Litre Saloon is now a very rare car. This two door example was registered new in November 1952 and given the registration number NGU902 which it still retains today. The first owner was the company Fletcher Miller Ltd of Hyde Cheshire who were specialised oil manufactures for the aircraft industry who kept it until 1957 when it was sold to a private owner in Finchley. He kept it for 16 years until 1973 when it was sold to its third owner in Billinghurst and then onto its forth owner in 1975, a lady in Bicester. She kept it for just over a year until it was acquired by its last owner in December 1976 who has owned it from then until now, a total of 42 years. He used it for a few months and then put it into storage until 2002. During these 25 years he sourced the various parts he would need for a restoration. In September 2002 he started this comprehensive restoration which took until June 2013. The restoration is fully detailed in a large file of hand written notes and photographs. Since completing work the owner has kept it in his warm attached garage and only used it on dry days. The car is MOT exempt but has a current MOT which runs until August 2020. The car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class. Prospective buyers are welcome to come and view the car by appointment in our Leeds showroom. To view over 70 detailed photographs of this car please visit our web site, www.aceclassiccars.com

The AC Ace is regarded as the quintessential British sportscar, frequently described as the more sophisticated brother of the Cobra. Built between 1953 and 1963 AC took a design by John Tojeiro that used a light ladder type tubular frame, all independent transverse leaf spring suspension and an open two seater all alloy body made using English wheeling machines. Early cars took their power from ACs elderly 100bhp two litre engine. From 1956 AC adopted the ex BMW two litre straight six cylinder Bristol engine with triple carburation. Fitted with a four-speed gearbox, top speed leapt to 116mph with a 0-60 mph time of just 9 seconds. AC enjoyed a successful motorsport program with a AC Bristol winning the 1957, 1958 and 1959 Sports Car Club of Americas E Production class, and running at Le-Mans in 1957 and 1958. The AC Bristol powered Ace, offered here at Autostorico is a 1956 matching numbers example finished in British Racing Green with Black leather interior. BEX 182 (Chassis number) left the Thames Ditton factory on 26th July 1956 and was exported to Michell and Pauli of Los Angeles who were one of the first AC distributors in the USA. The car remained in the USA passing through several owners before Don Davies, an avid AC collector and racer, bought BEX 182. He undertook a full restoration following his purchase and actively campaigned the car during his ownership, with his last race being at the Monterey Speed week at Laguna Seca Raceway. The car returned to the UK in March 2007 before being purchased by its current owner in September of that year. BEX 182 was then passed to the respected AC specialist Nigel Winchester of Winchester Motor Sport who undertook a no expense spared restoration which included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the whole body, ready for a bare metal respray in its current British Racing Green colour (originally White). The car was also subject to a full mechanical overhaul including an engine rebuild by Bristol engine specialist Steve Stanton of Stanton Motorsport. The gearbox was rebuilt and had overdrive fitted with the differential running a new 3.91 ratio. Other notable works included overhauling the braking and suspension system, re-wire, new wheels and tyres, interior re-trim, full weather gear and supplying a detachable roll hoop. Currently running on triple Webber carburettors (Solexs included) this stunning example has been sparingly used by its current owner and is an absolute joy to drive. Offered for sale with a current V5 registration document, a history file containing numerous invoices, photographs and other related material. Eligible for the worlds most prestigious events, including the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic and other historic race and rally events. Viewing strictly by appointment only.

We are delighted to have the opportunity of offering this magnificent, beautifully presented AC Aceca onto the market with a recorded mileage, believed genuine of just 29000 miles. During the 1950's AC enlisted the aid of genius race chassis designer John Tojeiro in creating a sports car to boost sales of the AC marque. His subsequent creation was the Ace which appeared at Earls Court in 1953 with its tubular ladder type chassis with all round independent suspension by traverse springs - the first British sportscar to be thus equipped. The AC offered immense road holding and handling and the car could easily out pace many of its bigger rivals and it soon established an enviable reputation in sporting events around the World. The AC Aceca Coupe followed in 1954, a beautifully proportioned early example of a GT type body. 240 SPF was first registered on the 10th November 1960 to AC Cars Ltd, Thames Ditton and was purchased new at the 1960 Motor Show by a Mr and Mrs Cane. They both invested in newcars, Mr Cane purchased an AC Greyhound and this Aceca was for Mrs Cane. She feared the Bristol engine would be 'too fast', and it was agreed that the car would be returned to AC for the installation of their own 2 litre engine. Mrs Cane kept the car for 17 years and throughout its early life the car was maintained by AC Cars Limited in Thames Ditton. We have invoices throughout the 1970's for various maintenance and upkeep and in 1977 the AC was sold with a recorded mileage of 15,000. The AC's second owner was another lady, the proprietor of a North London Hair Salon and in 1979 the car was back at Thames Ditton for its annual MOT and various mechanical maintenance and servicing. In 1983 the AC headed briefly north, it sold to a gentleman in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, now with 18000 miles recorded. The Aceca only stayed in Yorkshire for one year and in 1984 was sold to Prop Jet Limited (later Fortis Aviation Ltd), registered at Stansted Airport. It stayed in the same ownership for a further 17years and in 2001 with 27,500 miles recorded the AC returned to Northern England, residing with a private owner in Oldham. In 2013 with 28000 miles, the AC sold to the most recent owner, a Lancashire based collector who has covered very little mileage, the car arriving with us recording less than 29000 miles. Over the past six years with its most recent owner, the car has been taken to a beautiful standard having had a complete full re-paint, full re-trim and the original AC 2 litre engine has been completely stripped down and rebuilt and is with the car. The AC is currently equipped with a Triumph 2.5 litre engine which offers outstanding and much improved performance against its original engine. The AC 2 litre engine was not the most desirable of options, however the original unit has been rebuilt and kept with the car for reasons of provenance. For performance and usability, it makes sense to keep the current, rebuilt, strong and superbly fit engine in the car. There is no doubt 240 SPF is avery special car. The mileage certainly fits the history and its believed the first lady owner only covered 15000 miles in the car up to 1979, it was the couples second car having the AC Greyhound as its stable mate. The mileage is warranted from 1978 to 2019 so we know it has covered just 14000 miles in the last 41 years, and having the cars 1970's Thames Ditton service history is also very impressive. With a superb traceable history and presenting in such beautiful condition, we know this is a very sought-after car. The AC presents superbly with its original first-class aluminium body finished in the cars original colour of Blue. The paint finish gleams and is of an exceptional high standard, bright work and wire wheels are in excellent order and the interior is beautifully re-trimmed. The engine bay presents superbly, and having been in the hands of a meticulous collector, the car is in excellent condition throughout. Having covered hardly any mileage over the past six years, the AC will befully serviced and MOT tested for its next owner, and the original freshly rebuilt AC engine will be delivered with the car. This is a true collector's piece, a rare iconic car for the sporting motorist and collector, seeking a hand built classic offering comfortable and elegant high speed motoring. Photos of original engine during rebuild also attached. Price: 139,995
