Having spent most of its life in the States, this 1969 Mercedes 280SL Pagoda was in a remarkably rust free state - one of the best we've ever seen, in fact. Residing in a dry state meant the car was able to avoid the rust problems that often plague classic Mercedes of this era, and we were astonished by the originality of the shell. There were no signs of previous accident damage or previous welding, and even the smallest details were still correct to how they would've left the production line - the original seams and spot welds, for example, are still visible; details which are often masked by previous paintwork and body repairs. Taking all these original features into account meant it was quite possibly the best 280SL Pagoda shell we'd ever come across. With the car's previous owner having spent a considerable sum with us on a full body restoration, repaint in DB180 Silver, full conversion to European spec, new hood and partial interior re-trim, in addition to numerous smaller improvementsthroughout the car, we relished the opportunity to add it to our stock, as we know the car intimately. The restoration is fully documented with over 400 images, which will be supplied with the car. Of course, to do a full colour change necessitated stripping the car down to a bare shell, and work could then begin to rectify the various dents and bodywork issues that were present across the car. Starting life in USA spec, the decision was made to delete the side markers and change the bumpers, headlights and tail lamps for European spec, in addition to fitting the all important chrome flashing underneath the numberplate. The boot floor was rusted through, so that was cut out and replaced with a new, genuine Mercedes-Benz replacement panel. The radiator and various engine bay components were painted satin black, and the fuel pump and injectors were overhauled. New rubber seals were fitted all round the body, in addition to a new windscreen, new headlamp units, new engine auxiliary belts and new waterhoses. The wheels were refurbished and powdercoated, and new period correct, whitewall tyres fitted to them. After fitting new tyres, there would have been little point in leaving the braking system feeling lacklustre, so all 4 calipers were removed from the hubs and overhauled. After re-fit, our attention then turned to improving things aurally. Despite these cars benefiting from a lovely sounding straight six engine, it was essential to be able to provide good quality music for those long drives. We carried out a custom installation of speakers and a retro look modern stereo, including trimming the speakers pods in blue leather to match the interior - it's the little details that define a Hilton and Moss car. A unique opportunity to purchase one of the most original and honest 280SL Pagodas on the road today, with bodywork having been carried out to an exceptionally high standard. This is an excellent example of a very rare variant of the iconic Jaguar XJS. In 1992, Jaguar closed the department tasked with manufacturing the ultra luxurious, hand-made Daimler DS420. This left their craftsman facing redundancy unless their skills were used elsewhere - hence 'Insignia' was born. This was a bespoke service, allowing prospective buyers to specify an XJ40 or an XJS in various unique colours that were created for the Insignia Collection. You could also specify the trim, wood, wheels etc. - an opportunity to create a vehicle tailored specifically to you. This particular car is one of the best around, having been specced with the majority of the options that were available. Although Jaguar were planning to produce around 200 XJS Insignias, in fact, only 57 were ever produced. Of those, only 7 of the four litre straight six coupes were RHD. This car is one of them, and 1 of 1 in this particular colourway - it is truly unique. A 1993 model, presented in Jaguar Lavender metallic withLotus white leather interior, and having covered only 48,000 miles - remarkably low for its age - the car is in stunning condition. Without question, one of the most rust free, unmolested examples of an XJS you are ever likely to find. Given the rarity and standard of the car, we couldn't bear to see the car left with small imperfections, such as car park dents, stone chips etc. Thus, the car has been through our workshop to tidy and freshen up the paintwork, refurbish the wheels etc., which ultimately has brought it up to an excellent standard befitting of its rarity, low miles and originality. The car is also supplied with its attractive K1 XJS numberplate.

Offered up for sale here we have this clearly cherished 1980 Mercedes-Benz 350SL Auto. The car is presented in very original condition throughout, and is eminently usable yet can easily stop you in your tracks with its glossy white paintwork and arrow straight body. The car also boasts a truly exceptional, fully re-trimmed bespoke interior, carried out to the original Mercedes-Benz specification, using only the finest materials and hides sourced from Germany. The original interior was a black mb tex vinyl interior, and the fastidious former keeper commissioned ourselves to transform the staid cabin into a show stopping and palatial interior, with a colour change to the stunning crme beige it now wears. No expense was spared, and every area that could have been trimmed to leather was, including the one-off centre console, handbrake shroud and lower dash, to the addition of a centre armrest and the fitment of custom made Zebrano wood cappings to match and accentuate the existing veneers on the centreconsole. We also added modern Dynamat sound proofing throughout the vehicle to increase refinement within the cabin. A later 107 optional leather steering was duly fitted (after being retrimmed of course) which also gives improved leg room due to its smaller diameter. The sound system of the car was upgraded to include a very subtle active subwoofer speaker under the seats to improve the cabin acoustics of the period stereo unit. Very discreet but a big improvement in the sound quality of the cars sound system without being at all intrusive or visible within the classic cabin. Coming with a history file to die for, archived documentation that has been chronologically ordered from the very beginning, all handbooks and even the spare blade key, the provenance of the car is exceptional. This classic SL has covered just 96,467 miles from new and has had a complete engine and gearbox rebuild, which is evident in the way the car drives. They don't get any better than this one on the road - it really canbe described as the quintessential V8 R107 driving experience. Since the engine and gearbox rebuilds, close to 30,000 has been spent with us here at Hilton and Moss looking after and maintaining this vehicle to the most exacting standards - meaning its condition is amongst some of the best you will find of any R107 that hasn't been bare shell restored. The vehicle has only 4 former keepers and has covered on average only 2500 miles a year. The driving experience is just as good as the aesthetics, with a smooth gear change and plenty of power throughout the RPM range. The 3.5 litre V8 engine runs faultlessly and you really do have to drive this SL to understand just how good an example it is. The car also benefits from the 'facelift' front chin spoiler which gives the car a modern but subtle improvement over the standard finish. The original steel wheels and wheel trims remain shod in Vredstein Sprint Classics which give the period correct look, for those with an eye for detail. The car stillretains its original factory hardtop, with new headlining, new heated rear glass and a paintwork refresh to complete its classic appearance, and for those summer months the car has a nearly new Dark blue mohair hood in fantastic and still very taut condition. We have known this vehicle for several years now and have carried out a huge amount of work and maintenance during this time before purchasing the car ourselves, owing to the devoted former keeper having a change of circumstances meaning their relationship with the car drew to a regrettable close. Some of the work we carried out includes a new genuine top tint windscreen and trims, new shock absorbers all round with new front springs, overhauled ignition system and we have also serviced the vehicle a large number of times during this period (regardless of the paltry mileage accrued) to ensure the car continues to run perfectly for many more miles to come. The car also comes with an attractive private plate that has been registered on the carfor a number of years. All in all this is one of the most well sorted 107s we have had the pleasure of offering to the market. For any further information or questions please don't hesitate to get in touch. This car is a late 1990, pre-facelift V12 XJS Cabriolet, presented in gunmetal mica with magnolia hide trim. The vehicle was originally supplied by Appleyard Jaguar of Edinburgh, has had 4 former keepers and has covered only 71,000 miles, with good history. It has its original mohair hood, and is currently in our workshop undergoing light work to raise the car to a fantastic standard. All 5 wheels have been refurbished, with new tyres fitted. The suspension and brakes have been refreshed, along with a full service carried out. Despite the car being largely free of rust, the paintwork was looking tired, so it seemed only right to treat it to a full respray in our professional paint booth, in the car's original colour. We've also refurbished various seat components. The car will also be supplied with its attractive 'H17 XJS' registration plate.

The R107 took the chassis components of the midsize Mercedes-Benz W114 model, The SL variant was a 2-seat convertible/roadster with standard soft top and optional hardtop and optional folding seats for the rear bench. In October 1974, and in almost perfect timing in the aftermath of the 1973 energy crisis, the SL was expanded to receive the excellent 2.8-litre twin-cam to create the 280SL. Given that certain buyers were downsizing, and existing Pagoda owners greeted the new 280SL warmly, it's no surprise that the six-cylinder roadster went on to sell so well. This particular SL was first registered on the Island of Jersey in the Channel Islands, it came to the UK shores in 2011, The service history booklet has 21 Main Dealer and Specialist service stamps.
