2005 Ford GT-P - today's tempter
Aussie muscle
Ford's GT-P series really was something to celebrate for local performance car buffs. Under the hood of this series was the 5.4lt alloy quad-cam V8 claiming 290kW of power at 5500rpm and 540Nm of torque at 4500rpm. That was more than enough to shoot the four-door at the horizon at an attention-grabbing rate.
These cars represent a significant shift in the local corporate history for Ford. As we noted in a feature on the series: "In 2002 Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) was formed in a joint venture between Ford Australia and English-based Prodrive. The FPV brand name was created and a range of vehicles developed and launched February 2003. And for the first time since the XB (of the mid-1970s) the GT badge was back as a regular fixture."
This example is a six-speed manual - definitely the version you want as a collector piece - and is said to be in very good shape. It's claiming a little over 96,000km and comes with all the books.
Priced at $52,500, it's with Australian Muscle Car Sales in Sydney.
