1978 Holden Kingswood wagon - today's touring tempter
The mighty Kingswood is a very useable classic.

Here's living proof you don't have to mortgage the house to get a tough old chome bumper classic in the shed.

This 1978 Holden Kingswood is an HZ, which means it's the last of the Kingswood family tree. Some say the country has never been the same since they stopped building Kingswoods, and maybe they're right.

In any case, the HZ benefited from Radial Tuned Suspension, which represented a major handling upgrade for this series. In particular, they lost their tendency for chronic understeer.

This example is a basic version, with the 202ci (3.3lt) straight six on board and the three-speed manual column shift, aka 'three-on-the-tree'.

Parts and mechanical knowledge for these things is very good and they're built to last. Rust is by far their biggest enemy and will impact the value of the car.

This example is remarkable because it claims just two owners over its life and looks very original. Located in Vic, it's priced at $16,000.
