Coolest coast to coast cruiser out there?

The first generation of the VW Kombi was built between 1950 and 1967, and spawned a number of different body styles, each of which are iconic in their own right.

There was the five-door panel van, five-door minibus (microbus), two-door pickup with a regular cab and a three-door pickup with a crew cab.

The engine used in the first generation Kombi was a flat-four boxer which changed in displacement over the course of its life span and included a 1.1lt, 1.2lt, 1.5lt and a 1.6lt.

In Germany the T1 Kombi was assembled first in VW’s Wolfsburg plant and then later in its Hanover factory. However the Kombi was also assembled in São Bernardo do Campo in Brazil and even locally in Melbourne.

This particular example is the five-door microbus in factory Mango Green and Seagull Grey. According to the seller, the Kombi is a US specification model and left the factory in 1959 as an 11 window microbus.

Judging from the photos it appears to have undergone a lengthy restoration and the seller also adds that Kombi has received a newer 1400cc donk which has been totally rebuilt by specialists in America.

The Kombi is POA and anyone interested in what surely has to be one the ultimate road trip cruisers can view the full listing here.
