Annual Picnic at Hanging Rock

The 27th Annual Macedon Ranges Car Club Picnic at Hanging Rock scheduled for this weekend, Sunday Feb 9 has been postponed due to extreme weather forecasts expected across the weekend for the local district.

The Macedon Ranges Shire Council's Manager of Recreation and Sport, Rod Clough, said, "While the decision was made reluctantly, public safety is our primary concern, with the very real risk of fire impacting the 10,000-plus crowd.

"The strong winds also had the potential to cause serious injury to patrons picnicking under the trees," he added.

Hanging Rock will be closed on Sunday in the interests of public safety.

The Macedon Ranges and District Motor Club (MRADMC) will work with the Council to endeavour to re-schedule over the next month or so and encourage participants and visitors to check its site for the latest news.
