Interesting to watch online a recent collector vehicle auction and see the number of older Statesman models that achieved good money but weren’t knocked down on the day because of unrealistic reserve prices.

Statesman values look to have reached a peak and $35-45,000 is realistic for a good De Ville. Perfect examples can exceed $50,000, as can a Caprice if the leather trim is largely undamaged.

Around 600 HQ De Villes came factory-fitted with 350 cubic inch engines and outstanding cars exceed $60,000. Further down the trail come restyled WB versions, which in Caprice trim offer enough luxury features to make most European models of similar age look bare. Outstanding examples of the WB rarely exceed $45,000.
