2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Holden Commodore/Calais VB-VL (Exc. Turbo)

Not many years ago it was easy to find basic, six-cylinder Commodore SLs at less than $6000 and the same cars with V8 power at around $12,000,

Then, like house prices in trendy suburbs, demand for Commodores climbed and some versions became collector royalty. In typical Aussie fashion, the version that once was most despised has become the most valuable; Nissan-engined VLs outpacing other six-cylinder cars as the first to top $20,000.

If you want a droopy-eye VL Calais with the 3.0-litre motor though, it will cost around $50,000. V8 values are booming as well, with top-class VB-VC SL/E 5.0-litre cars pulling close to $50,000 and VL Calais V8s scarce at $70,000-80,000.
