2021 Market Review - Cadillac 1936-1960

1959 Cadillacs continue to hold their spot as the most expensive cars of their type in the Australian market. The huge fins on ‘59s and slightly trimmed 1960s versions mesmerise buyers who will pay up to $100,000 for a quality Coupe de Ville and twice that for a convertible.

Caddies from the 1930s need special bodywork to make significant money but most of the cars we see are drab sedans. From 1948 the classic finned Caddy began to evolve and prices for 1950s models are strong.

That’s especially true for early-1950s Eldorado convertibles which reach US$80,000 in overseas sales. The shape changed in 1957 to a more modern design and demand for two-door versions is pushing prices towards $100,000.

Sedan 1936-48 $37,220 [5]

Sedan/Coupe 1949-56 $64,500 [2]

Conv. 1950-56 $124,815 [3]

Sedan/Coupe 1957-58 $72,750 [4]

Sedan 1959-60 $70,000 [8]

Coupe De Ville 1959-60 $93,190 [8]

Conv. 1957-60 $202,500 [2]
