2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Holden HK-HG Kingswood/Premier

The local car market literally turned on its head when Holden launched the HK. For starters, the brand finally had a V8, then came the Monaro range with every segment covered at family-car prices.

Even with a six-cylinder engine, those Monaros are today pretty much out of everyone’s reach, with HK V8 Premiers headed the same way. HT-HG Prems are slightly cheaper, especially if you stick with a ‘186’ version, and don’t dismiss the Brougham.

These came standard with V8 engines and more equipment than a Premier. Today, with good Broughams at $50-65,000, they are cheaper too. Basic HK-HG Kingswoods at around $30,000 are going to fill lots of Holden enthusiast garages this year, but V8 utes and vans are expensive.

HK-HG 6 $34,090 (27)
HK-HG V8 $56,285 (7)
HK Premier Six $43,000 (6)
HK Premier V8 $93,335 (3)
HT-HG Premier Six $38,070 (11)
HT-HG Premier V8 $76,130 (7)
HK-HG Brougham $50,435 (6)
HK-HG Monaro/GTS 186 $133,000 (3)
