They’re still out there... and are worth saving

You wouldn’t think it was still possible, but there is still the odd prize out there, hidden away in sheds. Take this 1975 Ford John Goss Special for example, pulled out of a shed in South Australia by an enthusiastic LaManna family. (That’s Greg, Jordan and Brandon, below.)

It’s since been shipped to their home state of Victoria and the current plan is to give it as light a resto as possible. In part that’s because the body and paint are in remarkable condition, making preservation rather than restoration look like a viable option.

"I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for a John Goss or a Cobra," says Greg, "Looked at a couple over the years and I’ve had Aussie muscle cars years ago, but nothing at the moment.

"A tow-truck owner and friend Peter Blanas sent me a link to the car, which had been sitting in a shed for 30 years.

"The story goes that it was a father and son project, but the poor fella passed away and the father parked it in the shed."

Greg got a friend to check out the car, which got the thumbs-up.

"It needs a lot of work," says Greg, "But it’s a cool project."

Aside from a tidy-up, it will need a mechanical freshen-up and a complete interior resto. However it’s the exceptional body that makes it a very viable project.

Hopefully we’ll get to track its progress. Watch this space...
