2022 Aussie Family & Sports Car Market Review - Ford Fairlane ZA-ZD

Looking at the money being sought and paid for 351 cubic inch Falcons and Fairmonts, it is fair to regard Fairlanes that use the same motor as relative bargains.

Asking prices above $80,000 looked outrageous but then a ZD K-Code sold for $79,900 and another at $63,500. Drop to a 302 V8 and you can save $20,000, with 4.9-litre ZC and ZD models at $40-45,000.

Values can go a bit higher if a car has factory or dealer options like air-conditioning or a sunroof. Preceding ZA and ZB Fairlanes came with 4.7 or 4.9-litre engines and, while marketed as ‘Australian luxury’ drew heavily on US design.

Today, good cars still cost less than $30,000. Modified Fairlanes rarely make more than untouched originals.

ZA Fairlane V8 $24,500 (5)

ZB Fairlane V8 $26,500 (5)

ZC Fairlane V8 $40,215 (7)

ZD Fairlane V8 $44,000 (2)

ZC-ZD Fairlane 351 $61,690 (10)
