BMW Z4 - Reader Ride

We caught up with Shaun Rankin and his BMW Z4 at the recent Mac's Bridge car display in Queensland

Shaun has owned this pristine BMW Z4 only since November 2020. His previous BMW was an E92 320 coupe, which shared garage space with a 1972 MGB GT.

"I’ve owned a few convertibles," he said, "But living in Queensland with the unpredictable weather I like a car with a solid roof and especially the BMW’s excellent air conditioning and demisters."

The Z4 is Shaun’s everyday car but also gets out to run Regularity on the Mt Cotton hill-climb course south of Brisbane. "I used to compete there in the MG, but this is just as much fun and might be a bit faster now I have switched the run-flat tyres for a set with some grip."

Shaun’s car was one of several competing for Class honours at the BMW Club’s ‘Show of Excellence’, however, at the time of writing the Club had not announced any results.

"Keeping us in suspense until the Gala Dinner in December, apparently" was all that Shaun could disclose on that subject.
