2022 Market Review - Toyota Celica 1971-2004

Celicas were for years scorned as performance pretenders, but then they started winning their class at Bathurst and adding rally titles to their CV.

GT4s like the ones used in Australian Rally Championship events are fun and usually cost less than $25,000. Group A versions though are very rare and cost double that money.

Look back to 1971 when the model was launched, and there are sufficient survivors to keep most values below $25,000.

However, 1976-77 coupes can cost $35,000 and Hatchbacks close to $50,000. The Celica market then plummets, with 1980s rear-wheel-drive cars at $10-15,000 and later front-wheel-drive models mostly below $10,000.

Convertibles are scarce and only a little dearer than coupes.
