Celebrating the half century of a Japanese motoring icon
Zedfest 2019
With many Z car owners across the world celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Z cars, local Datsun clubs and enthusiasts have been holding car meets and shows. In NSW, the Z Car Club Sydney opened their doors to the general public to celebrate the anniversary of the 240Z by moving their ZEDfest to the show and shine section of DamFest, a yearly carnival held at Warragamba Dam, NSW.

It was a day for concours awards, cake-cutting and general celebration, attracting a big selection of the iconic machines. See our gallery above for some of the cars on show.

“I personally have a 370Z and my wife has a 350Z, and I’ve also got an early 240Z and a 260Z so mixing them up today is fantastic….. It shows the progression throughout the years from what we had 50 years ago, to what we have now, you can see the design cues from the original cars all the way up to the 370Z but personally, I love both of them. Going out in the 240Z, when you jump in the driver’s seat you just get this grin from ear to ear….But when you get in the newer Z’s, they just have everything.”
