Australia's premier motoring event is open all weekend, here’s what you can see
The doors opened to Motorclassica 2018 this morning and put some of Australia’s finest machinery on display.
From pre-war cars, through every decade of classics, to the public debut of some of the shiniest new metal around; there’s plenty for car lovers to see no matter what your proclivity.
The landmark event is on all weekend, so here’s your guide to Motorclassica 2018!
As you enter through the gates, the outdoor area plays host to various car clubs displays, from Mustangs to Mercedes, there’s an eclectic mix sure to satiate the wildest interests (there’s even an EV-converted Ford Capri!).
Enter on through the doors to the main concours event, where pre-war cars rub shoulders with the wild fins of the 50s and 60s. The concours contains some of Australia’s highest calibre cars, as well as a feature display celebrating 90 years of the Australian Grand Prix!
It’s not just concours cars however, there’s various manufacturer displays, as well as curated themes of automotive celebration.
This morning saw the first public unveiling of the Ford Mustang Bullitt, which had a classic Bullitt stablemate for contrast.
Renault also has the new Renault Alpine coupe, seen for the first time by the public.
The showstopper however, was McLaren. Who brought their two newest, and most hardcore roadracers. The McLaren 600LT and the exorbitantly expensive (and ludicrously fast) McLaren Senna will be present all weekend for you to get up close to.
A first for Motorclassica is their Live Restoration theatre, a centrepiece attraction for this year’s theme of education. The Live Restoration will take place over the full weekend, with the addition of a Schools Program and a new ‘Future Lab’ in order to educate and excite young people about the emerging career opportunities and involvement in the restoration industry.
On the upper floor you’ll find most of the trade stands, and the motorcycle displays and concours. Motorclassica 2018 celebrates 70 years of the Harley-Davidson Panhead with a dedicated display, as well as a dedicated section to the weird and wonderful microcar!
Tickets are available at the door or online, with Motorclassica coming to a close this Sunday evening, October 14.
