World-class Ferraris at Concours of Elegance

The UK’s Concourse of Elegance will see some of the rarest Ferraris in the world in attendance

Taking place at Hampton Court Palace, the former home of Henry VIII, the Concours of Elegance -occurring August 31 to September 2 – will play host to some of the rarest Ferraris in the world.

Headlining the event is the Ferrari 166MM/212 ‘Uovo’, a one-off coachbuilding exercise by Fontana. Designed for Count Giannino Marzotto, the Uovo’s design was inspired by aeronautics and was built under the brief of “the ultimate sports racing car of its day”.

The car is extremely lightweight, 150kg less than similar Ferraris of the time. The car’s bespoke design contributed to a number of race win including the 1951 Giro della Toscana.

The car was recently sold through RM Sothebys, and is rarely seen in public – making the 2018 Concours of Elegance one of the rare opportunities to see the car in person.

Appearing alongside the Uovo, is the Ferrari 500 TRC by Scaglietti. The 500 TRC was so named after the FIA ‘C’ regulations, and is regarded as one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever made.

Just 19 500 TRCs were ever made, this being the last. It is also the last four-cylinder Ferrari ever made, and boats class wins at the 1957 12 Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The 365 California was designed by Pininfarina as a direct successor to the 500 Superfast Coupe, and is powered by a 4.4lt V12 engine.

There’s plenty more notable Ferraris on the attendance list, including; a 250 GT SWB, a rare alloy-bodied 275 GTB Long Nose, a one of three GTO Prototype and the 2018 GTC4 Lusso ‘Tailor Made’.

It’s not just Ferraris in attendance either, with the Aston Martin Owners Club set to display an example of every single DB4 variant ever produced in honour the DB4’s 60th anniversary.

For fans of the highest-calibre of classics and collectibles, the Concours of Elegance will be one to remember. If you’re in the UK at the end of August, be sure to check it out!
