Cruiser/camper
Volkswagen Type 2s have had an extraordinary history in the market over recent years, sometimes reaching prices at auction that would have their original designers utterly baffled.
Thank the cult status the model line has earned across the decade, helped in no small part by some imaginative marketing from the factory.
Of course that has meant they have become well worth restoring, particularly if they’re among the early split windscren or ‘splittie’ series. See an example here (pictured above).
Grays currently has very tidy-looking restomod up for auction at the moment, fitted with what looks like a one-off camper interior.
