The VK Holden Commodore is the fourth iteration of the first generation of one of arguably Australia’s greatest automotive moniker.
Released in February of 1984, the VK replaced the outgoing VH, and stayed in production until February of 1986.
Changes made over its predecessor were mostly cosmetic, with the VK receiving a new front grille and rear taillight design.
The VK was also the first Commodore to utilise plastic bumpers and adopt the extra rear quarter window, giving the VK a glasshouse-like cabin.
Customers could have their VK in either a four-door sedan or a five-door wagon.
Power came from a range of engines that comprised a 1.9lt inline four-cylinder (New Zealand market only), 3.3lt inline six-cylinder and 4.9 or 5.0lt V8.
The shove from these donks was sent to the VKs rear wheels via either a four or five-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.
This particular VK is an ex-police interceptor and comes equipped with the 5.0lt V8 and four-speed manual transmission.
