Anyone wanting a 1960s General Motors’ product without paying big money for a Holden might consider a Vauxhall.

Pre-1952 the offerings are cramped and frumpy but the E Series, PA and PB models that followed were more spacious and stylish. PA and PB Series cars with six-cylinder engines would more than match a ‘grey’ motor Holden in performance too; well enough in fact for a PA to win Australia’s first 500 Mile production race at Phillip Island 1960.

Prices are low at present with really good cars absent from the market. So too the four-cylinder Victors and Vivas which were Class contenders in various events and should today sell in decent condition at $4000-7000.
