Unprecedented: Complete unassembled Ferrari 250 GTO found in container

Never before seen; parts for a complete 250 GTO shall go to auction

We recently reported that a cache of rare Ferrari parts had been uncovered as part of a deceased estate in the UK.

Just hours before those parts are set for auction; COYS received a tipoff about one final container.

Beyond the rare collection of new-old-stock of parts worth “well over a million pounds” already discovered, COYS discovered one more incredible find: a complete kit of parts to build a Ferrari 250 GTO.

Inside the container laid the chassis frame of a 1962 Ferrari 250 (serial 4105GT), an original Ferrari TIPO 128S V12 engine, a “highly authentic” tubular frame in the GTO style, bodywork sections, wheels, cooling, suspension and braking components, as well as various dials and gauges.

The final container was located at the same site as the previously discovered parts containers, albeit in a slightly different location on the premises.

FERRARI 250 GTO EXPECTED TO SET NEW AUCTION RECORD AT MONTEREY

From the former estate of an esteemed (and apparently manic) Ferrari collector, the final container was found just days ago after the auctioneers were alerted as to the whereabouts of the “final container”.

Managing Director of COYS, Chris Routledge stated “we were over the moon with the first finds… but we are ecstatic about this”.

He continued: “It is completely unprecedented in the world of Classic Cars and we have rushed to get it into our Blenheim Palace classic car auction this Saturday 30th of June”.

With just 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs ever produced, they are the most desired and sought-after collector cars in the world. Frequently smashing records at auction and private sale, with a recent string of headline sales; this unique opportunity to build a new blank canvas 250 GTO is likely to be a whirlwind.

The Blenheim auction is this weekend, and we shall report back with the results.
