T-code Falcon Police GT-sleeper, double VL resto, the first M-car, Motorclassica’s best in show + MORE!
The latest issue of Unique Cars magazine has landed in stores and on shelves today, filled bumper-to-bumper with some stunning cars and amazing stories.
Our cover star this month comes courtesy of Ford’s ultimate factory sleeper, the Police-only T-code Falcon. With basic Falcon 500 appearances, it was the perfect wolf in sheep’s clothing that police needed to keep up with the array of factory racers on the market in the 70s, and remains one of the most fascinating footnotes in Falcon collecting.
Elsewhere, we rub shoulders with a stunning Aston Martin DB2/4 MkIII and recount the amazing story of its restoration and the events that lead to its unintended Best in Show award at MotorClassica!
We also dig into a bit of BMW M-car history, with a fantastic feature on this South African special BMW 530 MLE. While many would think the first BMW M-car to be the M1 of 1978, the 530 Motorsport Limited Edition predates the mid-engined supercar by a number of years, and was the first to debut that iconic tricolour motif. Is this the first true M-car? You decide!
Further back, it’s a double-header for our monthly Reader Resto: with a pair of VLs (an ’87 Calaid 5.0 and an ’88 Series 200) representing years of hard work by father and son duo, David and John of Tasmania.
On the modern machinery front, young Alex takes a focussed look at Honda’s perennial S2000 roadster as a future classic buy. Spurred on by recent price rises, we still reckon there isn’t much else from the era that can match its looks and driving experience for the dollar.
Of course, there’s plenty more to find inside, including all of the usual shed tips, classic car reviews & market data, Unique Cars’ workshop and all of the latest auction news and more!
