1988 Ferrari Mondial – $129,888
For many car aficionados the cliche of owning a red Ferrari is still strong, this stunning Mondial could be the one.
Although it wears the Prancing Horse moniker, the Mondial was hardly one of Enzo’s greatest creations.
But with time marching on, this 2+2, rear-engined, 1980s sports car is now coming in to favour with collectors, who are giving it the kudos it possibly deserved back then.
This newfound interest has done wonders for prices too. Here’s an Aussie-delivered example with 93,324 klicks on the clock with a service history, a folder of receipts and factory manuals. If looks are anything to go by, it is a fine example of this once less loved Fezza.
It’s pretty eye-catching too with red paintwork and a parchment leather-trimmed cabin, a killer combo in my book.
The glorious exhaust note comes from the rear-mounted Quattrovalve 3.2-litre V8 and in this car it’s joined to a five-speed manual, with signature gated shift.
Given that it also boasts air-con, alloy wheels, power steering, mirrors and windows, it is possible to use it as a daily driver. But I’d keep it for weekend getaways where you can enjoy its sharp handling on twisty roads and longer road trips.
