TOP PICK: 2005 FPV BA MKII F6 Tornado $69,000
The Barra powered XR6 TURBO has proven itself as a local engineering hero, the FPV version was even more special
Sometimes you’re trawling through car ads and history reaches out and grabs you by the scruff of the neck. This is one of those moments. This ute would easily take centre stage in any Ford collection.
The BA MKII F6 Tornado raced out of the FPV shed January 2005. Rear-wheel drive, 4.0-litre turbo-six putting out 270 killer Watts in that beautifully linear fashion only a Barra can do, backed by a six-speed manual. It’s a dead set performance ute wearing tradie clothes. This one is joined to a six-speed manual gearbox.
FPV’s flashiest workhorse wears build number 088 and is one of 27 finished in Rapid Yellow of the 137 that rolled off the line.
I can’t remember the last time I saw one with this few klicks on it and in this condition.
Buy it and you’ll get an Aussie tradie treasure with logbooks and FPV paraphernalia.
The best part is the turbo Barra is an absolute blast to drive and still has enough mod cons.

2008 HSV VE CLUBSPORT R8 $29,950
This one smacked me between the eyes. Not because it’s a VE R8 Clubsport, though that’s reason enough, but the price made me look twice. Then a third time.
Clubbies aren’t uncommon but they’re hot property; a desirable performance keepsake of what Australians could build.
The R8 inherits GM’s 6.0-litre LS2 V8, from the C6 Corvette. Paired here with an auto, it also has twin three-inch exhausts, a cold-air intake and coil-over suspension.
Painted Sting Red, it’s recently had a new throttle body, harmonic balancer and radiator fitted.
It shows 178,500 klicks on the clock and has the all-important HSV authenticity letter.

2004 HOLDEN MONARO CV8-R $54,990
Morley and Higgo love their Monaros, and with good reason.
The CV8 knocked the socks off everyone when it landed in Holden showrooms in 2001.
